About Us

Established in 1892, J H Birtwistle & Company Limited is a thriving Lancashire weaving mill producing base fabrics for both furnishings and industrial use, wide width sheetings, contract and technical fabrics.
Air-Jet and Rapier looms produce an extensive range of dobby fabrics utilising the latest manufacturing technologies. Creative use of fibres and weave give our customers innovative products which exceed the increasing demands of the market place. A commission service is also offered across our total range of facilities.
Accredited with membership to the Masters of Linen and registered to BS EN ISO 9002, our commitment to quality in support of total customer satisfaction is guaranteed.
The Company has also implemented and maintains an Environmental Management System to requirements established in BS EN ISO 14001

Products / Services

J H Birtwistle manufactures greige cloth for domestic and contract furnishings, sheetings, industrial and technical fabrics in widths of up to 3.4 metres (usable reed width). Plain and fancy yarns are woven in cotton, cotton blends, viscose, linen, polyester and inherently flame retardant fibres including Trevira Ô and Kanecaron modacrylic.
An extensive range of contemporary fabrics in a variety of weights for both print or piece dye is further enhanced by our bespoke design service.
