About Us

Howorths (Nelson) is a family owned company incorporated in 1924, originally as beamers and tape/sizers supplying the local weaving industry. We have recently relocated to a larger premises primarily to maintain large stocks of yarn for sale on a merchanting basis.
We currently hold more than 1m stock of cottons, synthetics and blend yarns across the count range. This range is constantly increasing, led by customer demand. We have also increased our production capacity now to include 5 direct beaming machines, 3 tape/sizing machines and 1 sectional warper.
Our company has recognised the constraints placed on delivery schedules by using 3rd party transport. We run our own fleet of 17 and 7 tonne vehicles to enable prompt and flexible delivery services. We are one of the largest importers of yarns for weaving and knitting in the U.K. Our yarns end up in a wide variety of uses including the prison service, soft furnishings, technical and industrial fabrics etc..
